Met a girl (Let call her HB8) Monday at some party out on Long Island. I think my opener was literally "How do you know I'm not a narc?" to one of her friends who was talking about drugs. It quickly didn't matter though. The most important things that I think I did right were to maintain eye contact and to entertain her friends. I was quickly able to isolate her. My friend Howard told me later (he entered the set as I was leaving), that her friends were baffled and saying that she never "disappears with guys" like that.
Anyway, I moved her inside the house and away from her friends and we talked for a while. We kissed, but nothing major - her friend came in and wanted to leave. This was the part that I got a kick out of - she began acting like the guy and fumbling with her cell phone to get my number! So I told her to call me after the holiday and that maybe we'd meet up again sometime.
Last night, we met up. We went for desert somewhere, and after about an hour, she came back to my place. While I think I did a lot of things right, and I don't think this really constituted "Fool's Mate", I think it could have been more difficult, and I look forward to repeating my successes and weeding out things that don't work.
I'm going to continue to do the daily challenges and see what happens. I have a lot of notes from that first interaction - about things I said that seemed to really resonate and get her super-interested, and about things that didn't really work.
